Mass Finishing
We can Finish any part or assembly you need.
Mass Finishing
Mass Finishing is a process used to improve part edges, surfaces, and consistency by processing many parts simultaneously. These methods are ideal for deburring, edge rounding, and surface conditioning, especially when handling large quantities of components. At Plummer Industries we use vibratory tumbling with a range of media options to efficiently deliver clean, uniform parts. Below is an overview of the process and available finishing approaches.
Tumbling Overview
Vibratory Tumbling uses controlled vibration to move parts and finishing media together in a bowl or tub. As the parts contact the media, sharp edges are removed, surfaces are smoothed, and burrs are eliminated in a consistent and repeatable manner.
- High-Volume Efficiency – Large quantities of parts can be processed at once, making vibratory tumbling an ideal solution for production deburring and finishing.
- Ceramic Media – Aggressive cutting action for rapid burr removal and edge rounding on harder materials.
- Plastic Media – Milder abrasion for controlled finishing where dimensional preservation is critical.
- Polishing Media – Fine media options improve surface appearance and create smooth, uniform finishes.
- Process Flexibility – Media type, size, compound, and cycle time can be tailored to achieve the desired finish for each application.
